That's The Way It's Got To Be
(Body & Soul)

Oooh ooh Baby
You've just got to understand
You're no longer dating a boy
You've got a man on your hands
Don't run away in fear
Come to me my dear
If you're woman enough
To show me that you care

Cause I want you - body and soul
That's the way it's got to be, hey yeah
Body and soul - ooh baby since I'm your guy
Cause I'm ready to say I do
Take you for my bride
Body and soul

I'm quite aware of what I'm asking of you
And I don't think it's a crime
Asking you to be more dear
I really love you
And love is beautiful
Together girl let's go
For joy that's wonderful

And I want you - body and soul
That's the way it's got to be, yeah
Body and soul - ooh baby please come to me
Cause I'm ready to say I do
Take you for my bride
Body and soul

That's the way it's got to be
Got to be that way
That's the way it's got to be
Got to be that way
Body and soul
That's the way it's got to be
Body and soul - ooh baby please come to me
Cause I'm ready to say I do
Take you for my bride
Body and soul

Soul Generation (featuring Cliff Perkins) is, was, and will be one of Rhythm and Blues most consistent success stories. Their career spans over a quarter century and still they enjoy popularity and the limelight. Their brand of mellow soul has never become obsolete. It's only grown sweeter with the passage of time.

Yet, time has not stood still for Soul Generation. With the release of their new songs you will find that they are every bit in touch with the style of today's music.

Soul Generation has worked hard and made the transition to produce the very current sound they now offer. Their sound is hot, sexy, and turned on and further amplifies that they are on the pulse of today's music scene. They have learned from the past, embrace the present, and are well focused on a victorious future. This is purely evident simply because of the success they are creating. It is further witnessed by the devotion, dedication, and commitment they have for their craft.

This group stands on a strong
foundation as they venture out into
today's music world. One might say
they have had the midis touch. Their
first release, "Body & Soul" went gold. Their second, "Million Dollars " surpassed gold and went on to platinum. They have toured extensively throughout the world, commanding stages from Carnegie Hall in New York City to stages in London, England. They have shared the bill with many of the giants of the music industry, including Stevie Wonder, Earth Wind & Fire, and The Temptations.

Soul Generation are the voices responsible for many commercial ads. Ads that so many have felt compelled to sing along with. Like the KISS FM radio in New York. So many found themselves humming and singing the lyrics, "kissing you with our classic love, 98.7FM ..." Soul Generation truly enjoys timeless popularity. They have the ability to pack a concert hall, just by the mere mention of their name. They truly are masters of putting on a show. Their charisma overtakes the audience and takes them on magical, musical ride that few are ready to disembark once the show is over. A performance from Soul Generation is a sweet, tasty, treat to be savored. This group has what it takes to make it work and knows how to work it to make it last.

"I just wanted to see if I could do it. " says Cliff Perkins, originator of Soul Generation. As he looked around at the groups that brought something special to him, he contemplated The Temptations, Little Anthony & The Imperials, and the Motown Sound. He wondered, can I do that? Being who he is, that quickly changed to, I can do that. And so began Soul Generation.

He gathered accomplished musicians and began the search for just the right blend. He ended up with a sound that has gone down in R & B history. Straight up Soul Generation's first song became a smashing success. Little did they know what their future held. Their first live performance also held a measure of shock, for this still wet behind the ears group. Soul Generation who originate from Jersey City, New Jersey rented a truck and piled in all concerned and headed down off to Baltimore, MD. Not one of them realized the magnitude of what was about to happen. As they neared the city a DJ on the radio advertised a concert featuring many of the best that R & B had to offer. They remarked how they'd love to see that show. At that moment the DJ added, and special guest Soul Generation. They all stared at one another wide eyed, with the collective thought, what have we gotten ourselves into? The answer, twenty-eight years later is a career that is worthy of accolades, high praise, and esteem.

So where do you go from there? Or, do you go anywhere? Once arrived, why not just sit back and enjoy the fame and fortune? Not Soul Generation. Once again success is eminent. Again a pathway to success is being created. They are excited by the new developments and doubly so about their new music. Songs that are poised to become chart climbers just as their past hits. Soul Generation's new offering to the music world can be described as inspired. For example "All Alone (Come See Me)." An up tempo tune in which Soul Generation presents melodic rhythms, inviting lyrics, and just a bit of a hip-hop flavor designed to please all segments of the listening public. Soul Generation is on the move once again, step back and just watch them blaze the musical trail into the twenty-first century.

"I fail to realize the impact we have had on others," says Cliff. As Soul Generation ascended the ladder of musical success, rung by rung they have touched so many lives. I think the composer, Handel put it best in his piece ”Art Thou Troubled ". He started, "Art thou troubled, music will calm thee. Art thou weary, rest shall be voice divine For you see music changes people. It brings joy, and it brings sadness. It will lift you up or bring you down. Forever we will recall key moments of our lives when those “special songs” are heard. Soul Generation just so happens to be one of the purveyors of those very special songs. Their past plainly substantiates their abilities and talent. Whatever their future, clearly the story of their success is still being written.
